It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Strong at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. He was 67 years old.
He will be sadly missed by his siblings Shirley Keewatin, Mary R. Scott, Leo Lewis (Sarah Jane), and by his children Terry (Lorrie) W, Stanley (Liza) O’Cheek, Robert (Colette), Billy (Jen) and Leon and wife.
He is predeceased by his parents, Francis Strong, Madeline Necanapenace, grandparents Paddy Strong, Harriet Keewatin and also children Ginger, son Randy as well as his wives Sandra, Jane, Gloria, uncles Louie Strong, William (Janet), Joseph (Margaret), Mary Strong, Nancy (Andrew), Martha (Anthony) and Annie (Samuel).
He will also be greatly missed by lifelong friends Ron Mesnegeshik, Evelyn Smith, Ivy Keewatin, Marie Kent, Steve Fobister Sr. and cousins Geraldine, Roger, Gloria, Clarence, Edith, Janis Rae, Howard, Donna, Keon, Doreen, Sidney, Jeremy, Louise, Lisa, Dennis, Connie, Gary, Angela, Roland, Terry, Eric, Pamela.
Stanley was a great grandfather to his grandchildren Harley, Tyson, Knoa, Kaitlyn, James, Amber, Sylvia, Jimi Shyanne, Georgette, Ernest, Alvin, Christopher, Jacob, Rayden, Alexis, Rhianne, Randi, Lakotah, John and Mikalah and 1 great grandson Connor Rae, and many more too numerous to mention.
Stanley lived his life to the fullest, enjoying his favorite past times, travelling, bingo, visiting, guiding, pulp cutting, he was a CN worker, he also travelled to McIntosh every summer for the last 3 years maintaining the Residential School Memorial Site. Stanley was also a residential school survivor, himself.
The wake services will be held in Jones, Ontario on Saturday, September 1, 2018 beginning at 4:00 pm and the burial will take place at McIntosh Cemetery on Monday, September 3, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
