Obituary Overview
Stanley Shachtay
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Stanley was predeceased by his wife Emma.
He is survived by his children, Norman (Doreen), Ken, Kim (John); grandchildren Amanda, Justin (Amy), Tracy (Carlin), Cordon, Aaron, Taylor, and great grandchildren Madison and Zoey. He leaves to mourn many family members and numerous friends.
Stanley was born in Arborg, Manitoba moving to Winnipeg where he worked for the City of Winnipeg for 30 years. He was an avid gardener and was always looking for a way to have the first and biggest tomatoes. Summers were spent at the cottage in Winnipeg Beach where friends and family were always welcomed. Stanley was a self-taught musician on the accordion and harmonica, with his harmonica always being in his pocket ‘just in case’. He had a lifelong passion of purchasing lottery tickets, always looking for the big win. Stan also enjoyed ‘skunking’ as many people as possible at cribbage. He’ll always be remembered for his incredible woodwork creations which are still being enjoyed.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division.
