Sister Georgette April
Sister Georgette April (Sister André-de-Ste-Marie) of the Sisters of the Presentation, passed away on October 24, 2018 at the age of 87 years at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated by His Most Reverend Albert Thévenot, M. Afr., Bishop of Prince Albert and concelebrants, Very Reverend Maurice Fiolleau, Vicar General and Father Emile April, on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., in the chapel of the Sisters of the Presentation, on 1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert, SK. She leaves to mourn the Members of her Religious Community; her nephews and nieces, cousins and friends; and her one sister in law, Thérèse (Carrière) April. Sister was predeceased be her parents, Alphonse and Marie-Anne (née Ouellette); her two brothers, Léonce and André (Dolorès). Sister Georgette was born in Zenon Park, SK, on October 20, 1931. She received her education from the Sisters of Notre Dame d’Évron. After completing high school she spent her summer holidays with relatives in Marcelin and in the fall was enrolled in the Commercial Class offered by the Sisters of the Presentation. After becoming acquainted with the sisters, Sister Georgette entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in the autumn of 1950. Her teaching career brought her to several locations in Saskatchewan: Prince Albert, St. Joseph and St. Paul schools, Makwa, Duck Lake, Le Pas, Spiritwood and in Debden. Sister Georgette also taught in Laurier, MB. In 1987, Sister retired from teaching and lent a helping hand at the Provincial House in Prince Albert. She was very helpful as receptionist, as catechist, at the laundry and in many other housekeeping duties. When help was required in Winnipeg, MB or at Guadelupe House in Saskatoon, Sister Georgette was ever ready to offer her services. Sister Georgette’s prayer life sustained her as she dealt with fragile health. Nothing could extinguish her love of God and of neighbour. In faith, she journeyed fully convinced that God was with her and that each moment was a moment of grace. With sadness we bid farewell to Sister Georgette but with her, we rejoice because she has been called beyond all darkness into the land of the living where she enjoys complete freedom. May the Lord welcome her now as she journeys into His loving arms. Interment to take place in the Sister’s Section of South Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, (306) 764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Sister Georgette April 2018..
