Sidney Keith Tissington
Sidney Keith Tissington passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Even at the age of 84 years, he was still a kid at heart.
Sidney was born on August 10, 1933 in Grande Prairie, AB to Lily and James Tissington.
He was raised on a farm in the Flying Shot Lake area, the youngest of ten children. He was very proud of his upbringing.
Sid lived a life full of variety with an entrepreneurial spirit. He was the eternal optimist who left his mark in every place he went… and there were a lot of places.
Sid met the love of his life, his sweetheart, Evelyn Kerr and they were married on August 14, 1957 in Grande Prairie. On the day Dave, their first child, was born, Sid packed up their mobile home from the rig site and moved back to Grande Prairie. They went on to have 2 more children: Donna and Keith.
They had a busy family life together including camping trips, Sunday drives, singing in the car, hockey, ball, curling. horses, 4H and hunting. Sid and Evelyn enjoyed summers at Sturgeon Lake, where much time was spent with family and friends over the years. It was his favorite place on earth. It was his favorite place on earth.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years Evelyn; children: Dave (Iris), Keith (Lori), and Donna (Ken); grandchildren: Christina, Lyndsay, Kailyn (Dan), Kelley (Chris), Cassidy (Jon), Jamie, Tanner and Tyler; and great-grandchildren: Sarah, Olivia, Ezra, Seth, Edan, and Anderson.
He was predeceased by his parents Lily and James Tissington; brothers: Jim, Bernerd, Ken, Jared, and Wallace; and sisters: Edith, Winnie, Lois, and Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
