Obituary of Shirley Bozarth
BOZARTH, Shirley
Shirley Jean Bozarth (nee Allingham) was born in Rockglen, SK on October 30, 1935. She died July 18, 2018 with family by her side. Mom was predeceased by her parents Willie and Helen Allingham; her husband Glenn in 2016 and her son Billy in April, 2018. She is survived by her daughters Leslie (Raymond) Miller, Lynn (Dave) McCann and daughter in law Lori Bozarth; her cherished grandchildren Codi (Shari), Chantel (Kurtis) and Jonathan; and of course her great grandchildren Davin, Colin, Layla and Jasper; she is also survived by her brother Dale Allingham and Aunt Pearl; 3 nephews Lorne (Donna) Jespersen, Jamie (Wendy) Allingham and Garth (Carol) Allingham as well as many cousins. Mom grew up in her beloved hills at Wood Mountain, SK. She loved riding her horses and showed beef in 4H. She attended Guilford Country School and moved to Assininboia to go to high school. After graduation she moved home and taught at Guilford for one year. She moved to Fort Qu’Appelle where she was hired as a switchboard operator. In 1955 her adventurous spirit took her to Innisfail, AB where she was employed as a telephone operator. Mom loved the social scene and attended many rodeos and dances. She met and married Dad in Innisfail in 1956. She first became a mother in 1957 when they welcomed Leslie. They moved back to Saskatchewan and Lynn was born in Rockglen in 1959. Billy was born in Claresholm, AB in 1962. Mom worked hard and always had a large garden. She cooked, baked, pickled and canned. She always tried to give back to the Community. She volunteered hundreds of hours, from 4H when the kids were little, to the McLean Rec Board and Reading Program that she started at the School. Mom had a love of the English Language. When we were kids she helped us order books by mail through the Public Library. She taught us to speak and write properly and she played a mean game of scrabble. During her long career, Mom played an integral and innovative role in the Agricultural Industry- working in feedlots, stockyards and a long tenure at Great Plains Auction. As a woman in Agriculture, Mom was a pioneer- she never claimed to be a pioneer. To her she was just doing her job and she did it well! She wasn’t limited by being a woman. Please join us for A Celebration of Life, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 23, 2018 with lunch to follow in the Banquet Hall at the Serbian Club 2775 Avonhurst Drive Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a Public Library in your area and read a book in her memory.
