Forever in Our Hearts
With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Shirley on Friday, November 2, 2018, at the age of 78 years, at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, after a long struggle with cancer. Her family was by her side.
Shirley was born in 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to parents Naomi and Theodore (Ted) Dietrich. Shirley attended Washington State University and worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington. She married Norm Desautels on April 22, 1961. They had two children, Eugene (Geno) and Amy. In the spring of 1969 they moved from Washington to the family farm near Riceton, Saskatchewan. In 1997 they retired from farming and moved to Regina.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Norman Desautels; her children Eugene (Laurie) with their children Chanse Allison (Brandi, Quill and Xavier) and Layne Desautels, Amy Jones with her children Darren and Mark Jones; her sister Jackie Cornelius with her family; her sister-in-law Leah Hoffman with her family; brother Roger (Natalie) Hoffman with his family; her aunt Bonnie (Bob) Vanallsburg; her sister-in-law Rita Bechard with her family; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Shirley was predeceased by her twins, Norman and Theodore Desautels; her mother, Naomi Hoffman; father, Theodore (Ted) Dietrich; step-father, Roger Hoffman; brother, Bob Hoffman; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Rose Desautels; and her brother-in-law, Lucien Bechard.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Shirley to a charity of your choice.
No service will be held. A family gathering will follow at a later date.
