Shirley Catherine Gass
Gass, Shirley Catherine, age 91, of Lower Sackville NS, passed away September 28, 2018 at Ivany Place.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie (Wilson) Mombourquette.
Shirley worked for Maritime Tel & Tel Company, then spent many years at the Provincial Government at the Teacher’s Library. During her retirement, she volunteered as an Elementary school librarian where her grandchildren attended. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at many church functions, at Beacon House, and as an Explore Leader in her younger years. Some of her hobbies were bowling, cooking, reading, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Survived by her daughter, Janice Richardson (Donald Grey); grandchildren, Tammy (Shane), Jeffery, Matthew (Lori), Tara (Tony), Denise (Danny); great grandchildren, Chloe, Colby, Mia, Taylor, Brendon, and Dakota.
Besides both parents she is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Gass, and sister Evelyn Keezer.
A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, Lower Sackville on Thursday October 4th, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Sandra Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, with a reception at Atlantic Funeral Home Lower Sackville from 2:30-4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
