SHINER, Eldon Albert

Passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018 at the Kelowna General Hospital. He is survived by his daughters: Diane (Joe) Hamilton of Kelowna; Debra Bryan of Brentwood Bay; grandchildren: Tricia (David) Leal of Houston, Texas, Marci (Jerel) Ertman of Kelowna, Lindsay (D’arcy) Anderson of Brentwood Bay, Layne (Haley) Miles of Kelowna; great grandchildren: Kaeden and Lilah Miles, Isabella and Max Leal, Jamie and Trace Anderson, Aven and Braxten Ertman. Predeceased by his loving wife Lorna; brothers: Bill, Harold and Earl; sisters: Elsie Chase, Myrtle Bailey; sons-in-law: Lon Miles and Ken Bryan. Eldon was born May 28, 1924 in Bield, Manitoba and at the age of 19, he went overseas to serve in the army reserves. On returning home, he met and married his wife, moved to Port Alberni, where they lived for 49 years, while working until retirement at the Pulp and Paper Mill. In 1998 they moved to Kelowna and resided in the Sandalwood adult gated community, where he enjoyed the Clubhouse playing pool, card games and socializing with many wonderful friends. His love for family was unconditional and also included his many nieces, nephews as well as Joe’s children and families.
