Kathleen (Kay) Gertrude Shelley
Kathleen died of Alzheimer’s Disease in Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia on Wednesday January 3, 2018.
She was born to the late Starr Ernest & Olive May (Wentzel) Hutt on November 16, 1926 in Milton, Nova Scotia.
She married Walter Bishop Shelley on July 14, 1947 and was a loving wife to him until his death on October 18, 1999. Her greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. Kathleen’s generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family & friends – there was always room for one more. Aunt Kay has many nieces and nephews and has touched the lives of everyone she has encountered throughout her years.
She will forever be in the hearts of her daughters Carolyn, Starr, Christine & Robina; sons Gregory & David; daughter-in-law Donna & sons-in-law Robert Fear & Larry Trottier. Kathleen is survived by ten grandchildren Alexander, Kathleen, Matthew (Shannon), Angela, Gregory Jr., Justin, Sonya (Tyler), Nicholas, Bronson (Anne-Marie) & Bradley (Jenn), whom she loved dearly. She also leaves eleven great-grandchildren Devon, Sadie, Charlotte, Riley, Logan, Taylor, Carter, Nyah Kay, Kingston, Joaquin, Lyla & Brooks and one great-great grandson Damien. She is also survived by three of her thirteen siblings: Virginia Fox, Herbert & Robert Hatt (Cheryl).
Besides her parents and husband, Kay was predeceased by brothers George, Kenneth, Starr Jr., Richard, John, Charles, Winston & Douglas; sisters Norma & Hazel and great-granddaughter Olivia Grace.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a memorial service and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 27, 2018. Burial will take place at Milton Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
