Obituary of Sheila Hewson
HEWSON, Sheila
Sheila Hewson peacefully left us on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 90 to join her childhood sweetheart and husband of 68 years, Phil Hewson. Together forever now.
Sheila was noted by so many to be the sweetest lady you could ever know. She was soft and kind hearted, but also strong-willed. She made the world a much brighter place and had such an impact on so many people over the years – the impact of her light will carry on.
Sheila and Phil enjoyed a very full life filled with many close friends and a close loving family. Sheila enjoyed working at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and several of her coworkers became good friends.
She particularly enjoyed music and singing, babies and children, ice cream and sweets, reading autobiographies, travelling, and walking outdoors.
Over the years Sheila and Phil enjoyed numerous trips to Jasper and Clear Lake, camping trips with their children, day trips to Regina Beach, as well as trips to sunny destinations, many along with their best friends Ken and Shirley MacDonald.
Predeceased by siblings Iris Burleson, Gordon Harrison, Megan Parker.
Sheila is survived by her children Donna (Doug) Ireland, John (Lisa) Hewson, Joni (Don) Reeves; grandchildren Brett (Krystal), Lee (Kim), Taylor (Nicole), Connor (Lindsey), Megan, Carter, Karmyn (Ryan), Jared; great grandchildren Kavan, Farrah, Wesley and Vince; step-grandchildren Matt and Jack. Also survived by Karen Juckes and nephew Gord (Willi) Burleson.
Special thanks to both Dove House and William Albert House for their wonderful care over the past few years. A very special thank you to Jan Cibart, a long time family friend, who guided us all in the last few hours of mom’s life.
At the request of Sheila there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
