Sharon Carol Parsons
August 13, 1941 – October 25, 2018
With great sadness we announce Sharon Carol Parsons passed away October 25, 2018 at the Chinook Hospice on Calgary, AB where she was compassionately cared for, and surrounded by her loving family. We appreciate the love and respect the staff showed and their kind care of Sharon.
She is predeceased by her father John Proctor, her mother Doris Proctor and her brother Jon Proctor.
Sharon is survived by her husband… Read More » John, son Shaun (Angela), her daughter Robin (John) and her son James (Karen), as well as her five grandchildren, Morgan, Rachel, Carter, Cole and Shane. She is survived by her two sisters Dianne (Saul), Colleen (Bob) and her brother Derrill.
Sharon was defined by her great love of family. She was intensely proud of her grandchildren and loved them unconditionally. One of her greatest pleasures was watching their development as well as their achievements and their trials. She was always looking for that perfect little incentive for them.
Sharon’s great love was history and she researched and compiled a large amount of historical data on various branches of the family and the compilation of historical film of the United Church history in Devon, AB. She was an avid reader with remarkable recall and was instrumental in forming several book clubs and libraries in the various communities in which she lived. She was a tireless supporter in these endeavors and made an impact in every one of the eight communities she called home (Marsden, Lafleche, Rosetown, Kindersley, SK, Swan River, Deloraine, Winnipeg, MB, Devon and Okotoks, AB).
Sharon had an enduring faith and shared it through her many activities. In recent years, she was dedicated to supporting the community in Okotoks, AB and the United Church. She volunteered her time and lovingly opened her arms to those who needed “someone” in their lives to lean on. She was always responsive to her communities needs and joyous triumphs.
A memorial will be held at Okotoks United Church on Saturday November 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Sharon’s life, legacy and beautiful impact on our lives!
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Sharon’s honor to the Okotoks United Church or the Chinook Hospice.
