Death Notice
« I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise. »
Shannon Louise Baarschers has taken her place in paradise. Hallelujah!
Always the organizer, Shannon has gone ahead to prepare a place in heaven for her family. Survived by her devoted husband Bill; daughter Alana (Jeff & Kayden Hayes); son Dustin (Lauren & Jace, Ainsley, Blake); mother Julia (Birdie) Core; sister and best friend Tracy Perron (Yvon); special nephew Leith Perron (Hayley & Gwen); uncles/aunts Merv Mothersell (Janice), Pat & David Armstrong; mother-in-law Alice Baarschers; brothers-in-law George (June, Janet & Kenny), Ed (Deb, Bill, David, Dawn), Jeff (Lynn, Danielle, Brett, Janessa) Baarschers; Predeceased by her father “Bill-Bub” Core, special aunt Maxine Core. Father-in-law George Baarschers, Brother-in-law Jan Baarschers (Judy).
Shannon lived in Sarnia her whole life. She married her childhood sweetheart Bill. She worked with children and in the field of education her entire career. She and Bill raised Alana and Dustin and were thrilled when Alana married Jeff and Dustin married Lauren. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren: Jace “Rooney”, Ainsley “Curly Sue”, and Blake “Pookie” Baarschers, Kayden Hayes and great niece Gwen “Penguin” Perron.
She was a member of Dunlop United Church where she actively participated on the Pastoral Care and the Prayer Team.
Her greatest desire would be for people to draw closer to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Throughout her brief but difficult battle with mesothelioma, she constantly prayed for others, lead people to the Lord, spoke of the goodness of God and found her strength in Jesus Christ. In her last breaths, she witnessed, “I’ve never lost sight of the cross.”
Special thanks to Dr. Sean Peterson & Staff; Dr. Crombeen & St. Joseph’s Hospice Staff; Dunlop United Church Family; and a special thanks to Reverend Adam Kilner for his spiritual support, love and friendship.
