Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Scott
Scott was born in Brampton on September 21st, 1987 to parents Steve Nelson and Vickie Campbell, and brother to Kyle Nelson.
As a child he was always one of the smaller kids in his class, but was always adored as a magnetic and outspoken character. He always punched above his weight class as a little ball of energy with a penchant for mischief. He spent a lot of time around his brother’s friends, and was considered a tagalong brother for the whole group while blooming into a social butterfly in his own age group.
As he entered high school at Mayfield, he grew into a handsome and charming young man that attracted friends wherever he went. Cultural influences pushed Scott to experiment with fashion, hair styles and developed him a rebellious reputation that would stick with him for the rest of his life.
His family grew to include two new step parents, Norma and Craig, and five step siblings: Matthew, Michael, Danny, Roger and Brianna. This group, along with Norma’s family would drastically expand the family unit that had once been a quiet and compact one, to one full of events and milestones. Scott was welcomed by all members, and got close enough to have the same sibling experience as he did with his own blood; laughs, fights and all.
During his time Scott forayed into being in a band, owning a bar, photography and writing for a living. Not all of his ventures worked out, but no one could ever accuse him of a boring existence or a lack of ambition.
Scott’s life wasn’t always tranquil and he had his hardships, but he had worked hard in his last years to restore his relationships with the people in his life. He had earned back the trust of his toughest critics. He spoke often of the people in his life that he was in the process of, and looked forward to, reconnecting with, and he always held his friends close to his heart.
Scott was a deep thinker, a lover of music, food, and a gifted writer. He always had an eloquently crass sense of humour, and was always able to draw a laugh from the crowd. He was at his best as the life of a party when he was his most confident and captivating self. He was a natural storyteller, and knew how to deliver a punch line. Scott was an avid reader, movie and television buff, and was hard to get a pop culture reference by. In his last years Scott worked as a creator in marketing at his family business, making everything from web pages to commercials and finally getting close to the calling that those closest to him had believed he would reach.
Though taken too soon, Scott managed a great deal of living in his time here. Like many of the cultural icons that Scott admired, he will be remembered as a young and charismatic version of himself. It will never make up for the time he lost, but Scott would have wanted to be remembered as a sly character standing behind a smoky bar on the downtown social scene, and for many of us his untimely passing will solidify that memory of him
