It is with sadness but appreciation for a long life, well lived that we announce the passing of Sarah Elizabeth (Free) Crowe at Loch Lomond Villa on December 18, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Poplar, England on August 9, 1921 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Worster) Free and was the loving wife to her late husband James Crowe.
Sally worked as a cook in the Airforce during WWII. It is during this time that she met her husband and moved to Canada to start their life together. Together, they raised seven children and although they sometimes struggled, they did it as a family. She was a member of the “War Brides Club” and the “Auction 45 Club.” Sally loved to knit, read, sew, cook and bake. She was very funny and had an interesting saying for everything. She loved to sing and listen to music but she absolutely lived for her family – her children, her grandchildren and that handsome husband of hers. Sally lived a full life and hung on tight for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons; James (Elizabeth), John, and Terry Crowe, daughters; Susan McLeod, Eileen Walton and Kathy (Wayne) Feetham, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. As well, by her sisters; Jean Turner and Carol (David) Maybe, all of the UK.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Peter Crowe, grandson Steven Crowe, brothers Mickey and Alan Free and sister Nellie Bull.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Sally’s wishes, cremation will take place. A private family interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
