Sandra Fay LeBlanc 2018

OBITUARY
Sandra Fay LeBlanc
January 26, 1955 – September 3, 2018
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family and friends of Mrs. Sandra LeBlanc announce her passing into God’s arms among the angels. At the time of her death on Monday, September 3rd, 2018, she was a mere 63 years of age. Regardless of age, however, Sandra left a great impact on us all. Her struggles with bipolar disorder and osteoarthritis have brought these diseases to the forefront of awareness.
It is with great strength and a “joie de vivre” that Sandra encompassed and faced life. Her appreciation of all of God’s offerings on Earth were unmatched. She faced every uphill battle in her life with positivity and defined living every moment as ‘happy go lucky’.
Sandra absolutely loved her cats, Pussywillow & Lucy; she loved playing cribbage, listening to rock music, talking on the phone, drinking Diet Pepsi & coffee, scratching Lucky 7 tickets; she loved her plants and the moon and the stars.
On October 14th, 1984, Sandra met Pat, the love of her life. Five years later, the knot was tied. Their son, Justin, was born on September 13th, 1991.
Sandra was also survived by her sisters Carol Coolen (Patricia Kaizer), Halifax, Linda Gillis (Sheldon), Halifax, and Heather Hunt (Bob Robinson), Bridgewater, as well as her brothers Greg Coolen (Nora), Dartmouth, and Stephen Coolen, Halifax.
She was also survived by her nieces and nephews Emily, Colleen, Jonathan, Lisa, Stephanie, Leslie and Matthew.
Sandra was also predeceased by her father, Selburne Coolen, her mother, Flora Virginia Coolen and her sister, Beverly Coolen.
In addition to her loving family, Sandra was always happy to have a lively conversation with her best friends Bonnie Ferris & Ron Sanford.
Sandra also acted as a ‘mother figure’ to many of her son Justin’s friends. Sandra would welcome anyone into her home and make them feel like it was their own. She was always ecstatic to share in conversation with so many important people in her life including Justin’s friends Sam MacDonald, Paul Harrison, Joselyn Nelson, Mitchell Ryan, Tanya Young, Rachel Salter, Alysa Salter & Clay Hartlen and Devon Roberts, just to name a few.
Throughout these many conversations with her loved ones, Sandra would share her love for music, singing away to the likes of “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin, “Hotel California” by the Eagles, “When I’m with you” (her wedding song) by Sheriff, “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison & “Africa” by Toto just to name a few. Music was one of her lifelines right up until she saw the band Theory of a Deadman live a few months ago.
Her quirks and quotes are memorable: she would belt out ‘he’s got a daytime job!’ quoting one of her favorite hits or she would exclaim ‘it’s the four seasons in one day!’ referencing Halifax weather. She would convince anyone who would listen that her crocs were the most comfortable shoes ever created. Most beautifully though, anytime someone would walk through the door or she would hear them answer the phone, she would exclaim “Well, hello there…!” to whomever it was with the same bursting joy to see or hear from you everytime that would fill your heart with appreciation for the relationship you shared with her.
Sandra always recognized chef-crafted food when she seen it, like specialty omelets or the traditional bacon & eggs, whole wheat toast and OJ. Like the creations from her husband’s culinary skills, his beautiful wife has lead an extraordinary life.
We would finally like to thank all the paramedics, emergency staff, nurses and doctors at the 7.4 unit of the QEII hospital for all their timeless work helping Sandra throughout her final days.
Sandra’s struggles are over and all of our lives will live on with some great memories of her. We love you and may you rest in peace. In closing, we will share a quote that she loved and that reflects her incredible & influential time with us: “we’re not here for a long time, but we are here for a good time!”
