Obituary of Samuel Wood
WOOD, Samuel Edmund – Passed away peacefully at PRHC after a courageous battle with cancer in his 80th year on November 3, 2018. Beloved husband to Nancy (nee Garvey) for 43 years. He will be dearly missed by his siblings Bob (Kay d.) of Newmarket, Leonard (Rejeanne) of Hamilton, Rita Davidson (Lloyd), Roxy Smitges (George d.), Ida Muegge (Allan) of Mitchell, Muriel Osborne (Darryl) of Alberta. Missed by his brother-in-law James Garvey (Diane) and sister-in-law Merle Foster (Paul d.). Predeceased by his parents Edmund and Myra Wood and his brothers John and Alvin. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews.
Sam was past president of the Peterborough Cattlemen’s Association and the past president of Lakefield Fair Board.
A very special thank you to Dr. Whatley and Dr. Beamish for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam’s memory to the charity of your choice.
Friends will be received at the Ashburnham Funeral Home 840 Armour Road, Peterborough for a Celebration of Sam’s Life from 2:00 – 5:00 pm with words of remembrance at 3:00 pm on Saturday November 10th, 2018.
