Obituary for
Samuel « Sam » Newhook
He was our hero. It is with sadness that we have to announce the death of Sam. He is predeceased by his father Andrew Newhook, brother in laws: Merv Smith and Verdon Higdon; and sister-in-law Elva Legge. Sam was married to the love of his life Louise for 51 years. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren; Susan (Prather), Darren, McKenna and Lauren; Lisa (Newhook), Zachary and Michael; Sean (Newhook), Sam and Max. He also leaves to mourn his mother Ina Newhook and siblings: Ted (Nadine) Newhook and Elizabeth (Autry) Dawe; sister-in-laws: Rosalind Bailey, Sheila Smith, Nettie (Eric) Williams, and Iris Higdon. As well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Sam was a very hard worker and devoted employee to The BAE Group and SNC Lavalin. Long before there was google to ask how to build something you asked Sam. He was always there to give advice and lend a hand (or tools) to any family member or friend that asked for help. Our memories of him with his Pittman Place and Spread Eagle families will never be forgotten. He was blessed to have such a large circle of friends and family. He loved his family and while we were not ready to say good -bye we know he lived his life how he wanted. Sam, Dad and Poppy will be forever in our hearts and part of who we are. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue with visitation on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2pm-9pm. Funeral service to be held from the Parish of Ascension, Smallwood Drive on Monday, October 22 at 2pm. No flowers by request. Donations gratefully accepted in Sam’s memory to Stella’s Circle.
