S. Madonna, age 95, of Dartmouth
We are sorry to announce the sudden passing of S. Madonna (Slaunwhite) Strum, on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home where she lived since May 2011.
Madonna was born in Terrance Bay, on July 8, 1922, but moved to Dartmouth at a young age. She worked a short time at National Sea Products and the Bedford Magazine. She was a stay at home Mom with her two daughters, Nancy and Jane. She loved her country music and her dancing with any partner willing to take part in her dance steps. She belonged to the North Dartmouth Seniors Club for a few years before her husband Tom’s sickness. In February, 1944 she married her husband Tom, an army guy. They resided in North end Dartmouth most of their lives. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Bill) Manuel and 2 grandchildren Angela and Bradley. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in May 2006 and her daughter Jane Turner in July 2008. She was the last surviving member of her family of 9.
Visitation will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St. Dartmouth, N.S. on Friday February 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. and Service at 2 p.m. Burial and reception following service to be performed by Rev. David Watt. Donations may be addressed to Oakwood Terrace Recreation Dept., 10 Mount Hope Ave., Dartmouth, N.S. B2Y 4K1 or to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
