RUTH BURKE September 2, 1923 to October 21, 2018
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ruth Burke, wife of the late William Alexander Burke (d. 2008), mother of Douglas (Kim) and Bruce (Janice).
Grandmother of Jonathan (Kathryn), David (Lynsey), Ciaron (Tomek), Devon (Tyler), Carolyn (Curtis), Adrian (Aleksandra), Shelley (Nick), and Jennifer. Special Grandmother of Rachel, Alexander, Craig (Kylee) and Ryan. Great-grandmother of Oliver, Hazel, Roslyn, Caden, Elise, Livia, Hayes, Leif and Freya.
Ruth was born in Frenchman’s Bay (Pickering) Ontario and was married June 5, 1948. She spent the early years of her marriage in Toronto and then moved with her young family to Ryckman’s Corner’s in Hamilton. Her husband Bill operated a hardware store for many years in the area.
Ruth was an avid reader and knitter and always enjoyed time with her family and friends. Ruth was a long time employee of Day & Campbell in Hamilton . She was a long standing member of First Baptist/Harmony Baptist Church in Hamilton. Ruth spent her last few months at Lakefield Extendicare (Lakefield, Ontario). Special thanks to their wonderful and caring staff .
Friends may call at the Cresmount Funeral Home 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Sunday October 28, 2018. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm . Reception will be held directly following the funeral service.
