Obituary for
Ross Payne
Ross John Payne was born to Rita and Cyril Payne on March 27, 1944, in Eastern Tickle on Fogo Island. Ross passed away peacefully at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander just before 10pm on October 26, 2018. He was accompanied in his last days and moments by his loving daughters, sisters, cousin Jane and family members.
Ross is predeceased by his father Cyril, mother Rita, brothers Baxter and Calvin, brother-in-law and special nephew Glen and Shaun Briffett, respectively.
Following an aggressive yet courageous battle with lung and brain cancer, Ross leaves to mourn wife Pat (Duke); daughters: Corinne (Michel Diotte) and Darlene (Daniel Vladetich); grandchildren: Rebecca and Alex Diotte, Mila and Matthew-Ross Vladetich; sisters: Pauline (Wayne Warren) and Rebecca; brothers: Edgar and Gary; sister-in-law Gertie; Aunt Mamie Tiller in Dildo; Uncle Albert Gill in Fogo; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 29th at St. George’s Anglican Church Annex, Gambo at 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
Ross will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle nature, patience of job, love of the outdoors, a great card game, his ever present smile and hearty laugh. He will be missed by a large circle of friends and family. He was an amazing Poppy to his beloved grandchildren!
