Obituary for
Ronald Romhanyi
ROMHANYI, Ronald Steven
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Ron on July 9, 2018 in his 55th year. Loving and compassionate husband of Regina. Proud father of Nicole (Peter) and Stephen. Cherished son of Leslie and the late Eva. Adored brother-in-law of Mike (Judy), Ray, Martin, and Stefan. Dear uncle of Crystal and Cole. Ron will be greatly missed by his feline fur baby Maxxi at home, the Romhanyi family in Toalmas, Hungary, the Szabo family in Budapest, Hungary, and his dear friends here in Canada. Ron was a recipient of a double-lung transplant in 2010 and will be missed by his breathing buddies. Special thanks to Dr. Allen and the Firestone Respirology team as he so praised them for his care. Also special thanks to Lama Ngawang, Wayne Krawchuk, the Buddhist community, and Liz Paul for their prayers, friendship, and support. As well many thanks to Dr. Dean, the trauma room staff, and Fraser Hall at the Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion and care. Ron was an avid soccer enthusiast, enjoyed F1 Racing, and was a lover of all animals especially his dogs and his cat. His infectious laugh and smile will forever fill our hearts. He had a gentle soul and was a champion for community activism and the less fortunate. Ron enjoyed going to the beach to watch the ships come in, then loved to sit on his favourite rock, with his cushions, and meditate. He provided education for meditation practices with both the Respiratory Rehab Day Program and Breathing Buddies Support Group. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humour. He is now reunited with his mom and his canine fur babies Fritz and Missy. We will miss him dearly. His light will shine on. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Friday, August 31st, 2018 from 4 – 9 p.m. at Knights of Columbus, 222 Queenston Rd, Hamilton. For those who wish, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health (www.firh.ca).
