Obituary of Ronald Dancey
Ron passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Grand River Hospital with his wife Carolyn and daughter Janet at his side after a lengthy battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Ron was born on September 25, 1936 in Toronto and raised in Pickering Beach, Ontario.
Beloved husband of Carolyn (Morrison) for 46 years. Dear father of David Dancey (Kim Smith) of Whitby, Jack Dancey (Daria) of Courtice, Ontario, Janet Roznik of Whitby, daughter-in-law Cathy Dancey of Ajax, and grandfather of Darren, Ricky, Michael, April and Robert. He is survived by his brothers Gordon (Jennifer) of Belleville, Terry (Heidi) of Mission Viego, California and sisters Lois Elaine Porisky of Stettler, Alberta, and Cathie Morrison of New Hamburg.
He was predeceased by his son Ronald Lloyd Dancey in 2003, his mother Ruby Dancey (nee Alger) in 2011, his father Oliver Selby Black in 1984, and his stepfather Lloyd Dancey in 1979.
His early career was in the automotive field. He was a licensed mechanic and for many years he owned and operated Dancey-Calder Motors Limited and Canco Collision Centres in Toronto and Markham. He also owned and operated a local newspaper, The Markham-Unionville Times. He served as a Ward Councillor, Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Markham Ontario from 1978 to 1985. In 1985, he moved to Cambridge where he owned and operated Morrison’s Meat Packers Limited. He retired in 2001.
Ron and his wife Carolyn lived in Glen Morris for many years and while there he was elected as a Councillor for Brant County Council. Ron served as Provincial President of the Auto Body Association of Ontario and Provincial President of the Ontario Independent Meat Packers and Processors Association. He also served on the Healthy Futures Board, the National Meat Code working Committee and the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission. He was licensed as a pilot in 1965 and was a Life Member of the Kinsmen Club of Canada. Ron was an antique car buff and belonged to several Packard Clubs and the Historical Automobile Society of Canada. A life long conservative, Ron was an active member of both the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, and the Conservative Party of Canada.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A private family service and interment in the Glen Morris Cemetery will take place the following day.
