OBITUARY
Ronald Kirby
April 25, 1950 – August 26, 2018
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Ron Kirby, in Kenora, Ontario, August 27, at the age of 68.
Predeceased by his parents Frances and Bruce and sister Barbara, Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth, children Carey (Paul), Christopher (Megan), grandchildren, Brayden, Olivia and Avery. Ron is missed by his sisters Darlene (Bob) and Cheryl (Sam), sisters and brothers in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was born in Fort William and married his high school sweetheart. Together, they raised their family in Thunder Bay, in their home until retirement. Ron was a mechanic at the Abitibi Mission Mill, forging many special friendships. He worked tirelessly to ensure his family enjoyed so many things including weekends and summers trips spent camping, fishing and taking road trips! Known for his passion to building things, Ron enjoyed Nascar races and fixing cars. He also enjoyed curling in Thunder Bay and later in Kenora.
Ron and Ruth enjoyed their retirement years in Kenora, meeting many new friends. Mexico was his favourite place to spend his winter months, and he was so happy that he could continue to make those special trips. We take comfort in knowing that Ron enjoyed his last few years, travelling to be with his grandchildren and enjoying these winter get-aways with Ruth.
Although health issues presented challenges, we were amazed at his resiliency and spirit. We are grateful that he lived his last years happily and contently. A farewell will be planned in Thunder Bay at a later date. If friends so desire, contributions can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity close to your heart.
