Romilda Giordano
November 29, 1932 – December 3, 2018
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Romilda Giordano. Romilda passed away on December 3, 2018 in Vancouver, B.C. She was born in Cosenza, Italy and lived there until she came to Canada to join her husband Alfonso, arriving in Vancouver in January, 1954.
Romilda embraced her new country and city wholeheartedly. She developed connections in her community and learned its language and customs while maintaining a strong sense of her Italian roots. Romilda was intensely caring of her family and friends. She created a warm and loving home for her family and thanks to her openness, kindness, and generosity of spirit, our home was a place where people of all ages liked to be. Her zest for life and sense of fun were infectious and lovely to be around.
Romilda is predeceased by Alfonso, her husband of sixty-two years, who passed away in 2015 to whom she was devoted. She was a caring and supportive mother to her daughter Anna and her son Carlo, who passed away in 1983. Romilda will be forever loved and missed by Anna, son-in-law, George extended family in Toronto, Italy and Australia and her many friends. As one of her nieces said, “She was one of a kind.”
A service will take place on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Agency or charity of choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com.
