I’m very sorry to announce the passing of my husband Roger Venne at the age of 64 years and 10 months on Sunday morning February 11th at 12:35 at the Hinton Hospital.
Roger came into this world on April 4, 1953, the son of Lucille & Leopold Venne in Fabre Themiscamingue, Quebec. He moved to Dorion/Vaudreuil, PQ at 2 years old, with his 3 brothers and 1 sister. After his secondary school, he went to the Hotelier School in Montreal and worked there for a few years. In 1979, he went to work at Gray Rocks (St. Jovite-Mont-Tremblant) where he met his future wife Ginette Fournel. In 1980, he worked one season in Jasper, AB, and returned home to Quebec. He loved the mountain area and it made him want to go back the next year.
In September 1983 he became the husband of his lovely wife Ginette. After a few years working in Jasper, he started at the East Gate for Parks Canada, where he worked for 32 years. Everyone loved Roger at work, his friends ….and his wife. They lived at the staff accommodation by the gate for over 20 years, moving to Hinton for the past 11 years with his wife and his dog Belle, the most friendly doggy.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 34 years Ginette, his sister Denise (Denis Fontaine) of Dorion, PQ, brother Jacques Venne (Sylvie) of Ste. Hypolyte, PQ, sister in law Helene Fournel (Ronald) of Ste. Sophie, PQ, nephews Jonathan (Eric), Sebastien, nieces Valerie (Alvero) and little Noah, Genevieve (Luc) and children Sarah and Antoine, also two very special godsons Alexandre and Yann (Matou).
Roger was predeceased by his mother in 1983, his father in 2008, and his brother Maurice (Momo) in 2005 from cancer as well.
***Three words sum up his life: generous, loving, funny***
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held in Hinton at Our Lady of the Foothills Catholic Church (780-865-3045) at 124 Tamarack Ave., on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 1:00 pm. NO VISITATION.
Foothills Memorial Chapel-Hinton Funeral Services have been entrusted with the care and memorial arrangements 780-865-1234. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Roger donations may be made to Cancer Research.
