Robie Gerald Joyce
1928-2018
Robie Gerald Joyce – age 90, of Kentville, passed away on
Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Born in East Uniacke, he was a son of the late Earle and
Annie (Johnson) Joyce. He is survived by a son, Paul (Gwen), Amherst;
a daughter, Carolina (Ivan) Tucker, Kentville; 10 grandchildren,
Gayle, Corrina, Karen, Bradley, Sally, Jamie, Tommy, Becky, Kelly and
Jocelyn; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Barb Mchinney and Nema Gosling, both of Mount Uniacke; a
brother, Doug (Myrna), Moncton; many nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his wife of 42 years, June (McWhinney) Joyce; his
companion later in life, Madeline O’Brien; dearly loved
mother-in-law, Florence McWhinney; sister, Lottie Jones;
granddaughter, Stacey and cherished sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law. Robie worked hard from a young age in his
father’s mill and in the woods, drove truck for many years
and later retired after 27 years working in sheet metal and welding.
He had a natural ability in anything he put his hands on, which
contributed to the building of many of the family homes, both his and
extended family members. Many of his early years were dedicated to St.
Paul’s United Church in Mount Uniacke and more recently,
Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank
Dad’s doctors, the caring staff of Medical A –
Valley Regional Hospital, his church and friends for the care and
support given during the last month. Dad will be missed here on earth
by so many, yet peace comes in knowing you are with all those you have
missed. Say hi to them from us. Love you. Visitation will be held from
3-5 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville. The funeral service, followed by reception, will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in the Wolfville Ridge Baptist
Church, Reverend Robert Burbidge officiating. Burial will take place
in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Family flowers
only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville
Ridge Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
