Obituary of Robert Cameron
Robert P. (Bob) Cameron, 89, of Lower South River
died on March 29th surrounded by family at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born March 29th, 1929, he was the son of the late Nelson and Isabel Cameron.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne Marie (Chisholm), son, David (Carla), South Side Harbour, daughter, Christine (MacIsaac) Halifax, grandsons, Owen and Ian Cameron, sister, Arletta Hollidge (Fred), Niagara Falls, and sister in law, Marlene Cameron, Peterborough.
Bob’s passion besides his family was his love for the forest and related industries. In 1961, he incorporated RP Cameron Transport Ltd. and became one of the original contractors for Nova Scotia Forest Industries Ltd. in the early sixties where he was a harvesting and trucking contractor. Later, he expanded into construction and general trucking until his retirement in 2011. His patience and wisdom kept his business successful and his employees and customers loyal.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Nelson and Isabelle Cameron, Upper South River, son, Ian Cameron; sisters, Muriel MacGillivray (Angus), Betty Cameron and brother, Hugh Wentworth Cameron, brothers-in-law, John and James Chisholm, and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Chisholm) MacIsaac.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Service 3:00pm Tuesday in St. James United Church, Main St., Antigonish, Rev. Peter Smith presiding. Burial in Kings United Church Cemetery, Loch Katrine.
