Obituary of Robert Klippenstine
KLIPPENSTINE, Robert Allen Duane
It is with profound sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Allen Duane Klippenstine of Regina, Saskatchewan. Duane is survived by the love of his life, Karen, with whom he was blessed to spend 54 years of marriage; his son Dean (Paula) Klippenstine; daughters, Kari (Joe) Harvey and Jodi (Neil) Klippenstine; grandchildren, Jaylyn (Zach) and Kennedy Harvey, Jonathan, Taylor and Max Klippenstine, Jessica and Regan and Finn Quennell; siblings Ken (Denise) Klippenstine, Beth (Dale) Omoth, Joan (Herb) Gerger, Charlene (Dan) Relkow, Stewart (Patti) Klippenstine, Elodie Cossette, Jeanette Taylor, Stanley (Glenda) Taylor, and Sandra (Glen) Urbinsky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Duane, born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on October 1, 1942, was the eldest son of Frank and Zelma Klippenstine. Growing up on the family farm near Parry, Saskatchewan, Duane developed a strong sense of work ethic and service to others. Duane went on to a successful career in the Saskatchewan Public Service. He first worked as a surveyor with the Department of Environment, and would then go on to work the majority of his career with the Department of Agriculture as the Manager of Systems, until his retirement. During his career he made many lifelong friends. Duane was a fixture in every community he was a part of. Becoming active in municipal politics, Duane became the Mayor of Lumsden in 1988 where he held that a position for 13 years. But being Mayor of one town wasn’t enough. After moving to Regina Beach, Duane spent three years as Mayor of that community. Everywhere that you saw him, you would hear him engaged in discussions about world affairs, curling or just telling a good joke or two. Over the years, Duane coached a number of youth curling teams at the national level, along with minor hockey, curling, softball and baseball and served on the executives of Minor Hockey, Referees Association, Minor Ball, the Lumsden Curling Club and the Lumsden Parks and Recreation Board. Above everything else in his life, however, his family was the most important thing. In particular, the time he spent with his grandchildren was his most valued. His laughter and support will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts. Please join us in celebrating a life well lived! Memorial Service will be held at the Lumsden Centennial Hall, 40 3rd Avenue, Lumsden, SK, on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in the Lumsden Cemetery will be held at later date. Family and friends so wishing may make memorial donations in Duane’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. The family asks that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Duane would wish for you.
