It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert William Patry announces his passing after a painful battle with cancer on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Rob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Arlene, sister Lillian, niece Stephanie and nephew Eric and their families.
Rob was born in Montreal, Quebec on March 18, 1960 and moved to Toronto, Ontario when he was six years old. Rob attended Humber College for their Radio Broadcasting course. He interned at CILQ-FM and CKFM-FM and performed Segment Producer and Associate Producer duties at CBC Radio Canada in Toronto.
Rob worked at various corporate and office positions. He owned and operated his own ServiceMaster Carpet and Furniture Cleaning franchise in the Etobicoke area of Toronto for 12 years. Above all, Rob’s favourite passion was writing. He published a book of poetry with his own photographs, entitled ‘Pinnacle of Vandalism’, and then decided to move to St. Stephen, New Brunswick. For the past two and a half years, Rob embraced life within Charlotte County. He wrote a weekly column in The Saint Croix Courier and The Calais Advertiser newspapers. He hosted and produced a weekly TV show, ‘Rob Patry LIVE’ on CHCO-TV from St. Andrews, New Brunswick for one year. Currently, he was working on his second book of poetry, ‘44 at Bat’ and a historical fiction, ‘The Hermitage’. Rob was passionate about all that he did. He drew you in with his stories and humorous wit. A truly kind, multi-media man who loved cooking and all food related topics, restaurants and tastings.
In lieu of a service, memorial donations in memory of Rob may be made at the family’s favourite charities: Charlotte County SPCA (506-465-7657) and Charlotte County Cancer Society(www.charlottecountycancer.com).
