Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our father and grandfather Robert (Bob) Mortimer Stephen on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 85 years. He was a native Calgarian, born March 16, 1932 to Robert and Molly Stephen. He grew up on 5th Ave SW, attended McDougall and Western Canada High School and played hockey through to junior with the Calgary Buffaloes. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Hooper, in 1954. After graduating from the University of Montana in 1957, Bob returned to Calgary to begin a long career in Human Resources with a several oil companies, including British-American, Gulf, Ashland and Dome Petroleum. He also worked with FiberBuilt manufacturing and in real estate. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing at Turner Valley. Left to mourn are his sons Mark (Cindy) and Jay, and grandchildren Allison, Brent, John and Hannah. As wonderful as he was as a father, his greatest calling was as a grandfather, attending dance competitions, band concerts, hockey games, lacrosse matches and track meets. While it was tragic to see him depart, we know he is with Margaret, who passed away in 2015. He touched many lives through his youth, his professional career and community association work. He was a genuine kind soul to be around and will be missed terribly. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Haysboro Community Hall (1204 – 89 Avenue SW) on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Bob’s family through www.evanjstrong.com. Arrangements in care of EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL SERVICES. (403) 265-1199
