Bob Campo’s family are sad to announce his peaceful passing at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Saturday February 17, 2018.
Bob was born and raised in North Vancouver and came from a large loving family who were all proud of their Squamish and Chilean heritage. Bob worked for many happy years at Vancouver Shipyard and he was very proud of the years he was the Docking Master. A workplace accident reluctantly forced Bob into early retirement.
Over 20 years ago Bob and Betty (nee: McIntyre) his loving wife of 62 years, moved to Vernon to be closer to their family. His children Kathy & Jay Morgan (Vernon) and Rob & Mia Campo (Pitt Meadows) along with his grandchildren Joel & Rae (Kelowna) Sarah & Alec (Vernon) and Jessica & Kevin, Amy & Rachelle and Emma (Pitt Meadows) will carry on his legacy of unconditional love for our family.
Bob was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He was the kind of man who was ready to lend anyone a helping hand from building a pool to fixing cars or shoveling snow for a neighbor. He enjoyed the years living in Lavington because he was close to so many fishing spots. His best fishing story was about a day out on Round Lake where according to him, he caught the largest trout in the lake. On Saturday mornings there was no place Bob would rather be than relaxing and watching cowboy movies.
He is survived by his brothers Carl (Barb), Jack (Barb) and Les along with his brothers-in-law Chris Christensen & Bob McIntyre and sister-in-law Diane Brown and their children Debra (Tony) Cusanelli (North Vancouver) Dan McIntyre (Edmons) and their families. His many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will fondly remember his quick sense of humour and caring ways. The next generation of nieces and nephews share memories of seeing Uncle Bob and Auntie Betty in the stands cheering them on at their sporting events. Our tears will help to send him on his way.
He goes to be with his parents Elias & Christine Campo, In-laws James & Louise Hurley and brothers Duke, Herbie, Kelly and Tom and sisters Betty, Marguerite and Wendy as well as his sisters-in-law Pat, Betty, May & Gail and brother-in-law Bill McIntyre.
A celebration of Life is set for May 5, 2018 back home in North Vancouver.
