Bob was born in Nakusp, B.C. and he attended school in Gravelbourg. Bob married Penny Frank on September 12, 1970 in Gravelbourg, before moving to Swift Current to make their home. Bob was an entrepreneur. Over 42 years in the city he loved, Bob and Penny built a successful financial insurance business. Through both his business and his generous volunteerism, Bob was grateful to have many of his clients and colleagues become close personal friends. Bob’s motto was « Never Give in. » An example of his determination was when he decided to get his pilot’s license and achieved that in a very short period of time. Over the years he dedicated so much of himself to help countless families in his community. Bob was active in his church and served on the church council. Bob was a Kiwanis member for many years, a Swift Current Ag & Ex board member and Special Olympics co-chair. Bob worked on countless projects that were near and dear to his heart: bringing CTV to Swift Current, working on Fairview rink twinning, and supporting the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program and Kidsport. For over 10 years, Bob L’Heureux Agencies promoted fundraising through an annual charity golf tournament; Bob was proud to make significant contributions to local charities. In 2005, Bob was awarded the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal for his work and service to his community. Bob has enjoyed an appointment for the last several years to the Provincial Highway Traffic Board. He cherished this work and he considered his colleagues as close friends. One of his great loves was the many animals in his life. He had a tender connection with these furry friends and one of his favorite charities to support was the Swift Current S.P.C.A. Bob was a passionate fan of the Broncos, Blue Jays, Roughriders and his beloved Montreal Canadiens. The most favorite times in Bob’s life were spent with family and friends at the lac, on holidays, and especially around the family supper table over a pink, juicy steak. Every morning for years Bob set off to coffee row to start his work day with laughter and friendship. Bob was a thoughtful writer and he also enjoyed making people smile with his daily emails. He was very passionate about making the world a better place for those around him and for especially his grandchildren. He was a family man, loving husband, and he was so grateful that he survived the last 20 years since his initial diagnosis to have experienced the love of those who came into his life. His smile, his passion and compassion were second to none. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Donations are gratefully appreciated to the Swift Current S.P.C.A. Box 1163, Swift Current SK S9H 3X3, or to Christ the Redeemer Church Building Fund, 1850 Springs Gate, Swift Current SK S9H 3L3. Warren’s Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
