It is with deep sadness that, after a long fight with cancer, we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Lewis Simmons. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He has now joined in heaven, his father and mother; Russel and Mary, his sisters; Reita and Mavis, and his beloved son Mark. He leaves behind to mourn, his wife Joyce, his children; Kathleen and Connie, his step children; Alex, and Steve, his ten grandchildren, and his seven great grandchildren, as well as numerous friends, and extended family. Born in Edmonton and raised in High Prairie, Robert Joined the Air Force in 1955. He was stationed in Ottawa where he married his first wife Lena Denofreo in 1958 and had three children; Kathleen, Mark and Connie. Robert finished his career in the air-force as Master Sargent in 1979. He married his second wife Joyce Volk in 1983 and they moved to Rochester where they bought the local grocery store. They fell in love with the area and the community and it was here they retired.
All are welcome to attend his memorial service and celebration of life that will be held on Saturday, the 14th day of July at the Rochester Town Hall at 1 pm. This will be followed by his Internment at the Peaceful Pines Cemetery in Rochester.
