Robert Leo O’Leary
1954-2018
O’LEARY, Robert Leo – Age 64 years of
Canso. It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my
dear, beloved husband of 38 years. Robert passed away in Eastern
Memorial Hospital, Canso, Guysborough County on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
He loved life to the fullest. He was a son of Winnifred
Gertrude Cluney and Osborne Patrick O’Leary of Queensport.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; brother, Wayne
(Pauline); sisters, Darlene (Ian), Maxine (Kevin P), Donna (Josh) and
Debbie (Kevin) as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and
uncles.
Robert was a hard worker and tried his hand at many different
jobs. He fished in the summers with his dad and other fishermen. He
managed the refrigeration plant at The Canso Seafood’s for
many years. Due to illness he had to retire from there, at
which time he opened O’Leary’s Small Engine
Repairs in their backyard. He enjoyed spending countless hours at his
job. He was mostly self-taught until he decided to take a
correspondence course on-line. On completion, his dream came true and
many people frequented his shop over the past 20 years leaving with a
much lighter spirit than when they came.
A big thank you to all doctors & nurses in Canso,
Antigonish & Halifax, who attended to Robert and a very
special thank-you to Dr. Sullivan for being there for Robert for many
years.
There will be no visitation. Church service will be held in
The Canso United Baptist Church, Saturday, October
6th at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Wheeler
officiating. Interment at a later date. Family flowers only please.
Donations can be made in Robert’s memory to The Canso United
Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice. Thank-you
for the support you gave to the family for many years, it was greatly
appreciated.
