McConnell, Robert (Bob), James passed away in the VG Hospital Nov 19, 2018.
Bob was born in Antigonish N.S. August 9, 1931. He was the oldest son of the late Hap & Madge McConnell. Bob is survived by his wife Catherine (Bunny) of 66 years & sons Bruce (Belinda) Riverview N.B. & Jamie (Leanne) of Lr. Sackville. Grandfather to 5: Kelly (Jason), Sheena (Tim), Alani (Dennis), Jessie, & Heather (Paul). Great grandfather to Lauchlan, Aster, Leif, Mahila, Wyatt, Liam, Arlo & Ruby. Bob is also survived by brother Brian of Saskatoon, SK.
Aside from his parents Bob was predeceased by son Stephen and brothers Bruce & Winston. Bob was involved in the heavy machinery business for years, owned Sportsman Sales & Rentals, a foundation business and retired from the Halifax International Airport driving a snow blower. Bob spent 20 years in the Kinsmen Club of Sackville and was a member of St John The Evangelist Church.
Bob will be missed by his family & friends. Bob loved all animals, especially his many dogs that were his constant companions. A special thanks to nurse Amanda Tinning of the heart functioning clinic, The VON & Ron Morris whose weekly visits and gifts of chocolate milk & muffins brought him joy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Lower Sackville.
Arrangements are under the care of Oakridge Memorial. A funeral service will be held November 22 at 2 pm at St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Old Sackville Rd, Sackville, NS. with Bishop Sue Maxley officiating.
Internment will follow in Oakridge Memorial Gardens.
