Robert « Bob » Clyde MacCallum
1928-2018
Robert (Bob) Clyde MacCallum, age 89, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by family. Throughout his life, he nourished those around
him with generosity, kindness, and compassion. His deeply held faith
in God was shared with his wife and influenced every activity of his
life. He was born October 30, 1928 in Blasdell, New York to Milford
Clyde and Lucy (Blakney) MacCallum, one of eight children.
After attending Moncton High School, Bob joined
Moncton Publishing Ltd. (Times & Transcript), his advertising
career spanning four decades. Outside of work, he was deeply involved
with the Gideons Organization; a committed Bible Teacher and
long-serving board member of the Moncton Wesleyan Church. His vision
for the Reformed Baptist Church on Archibald Street was contagious and
well remembered. He brought enthusiasm, a quick wit, and gentle humour
to the many committees, work, and family events he was constantly
involved with. He met the love of his life, Annette Pinch, in the
early 1950s and married on September 16, 1953 in Belleville, Ontario.
After retirement, they travelled widely to and with their children,
often saying « Our girls have made our world a little
bigger. » In addition, Bob enjoyed gardening, ice skating, long
walks on the beach with his « Dearie, » and music.
Left to honour Bob and remember his love are wife
Annette; their three girls, Debbie (Brian) McMillan, Pamela (late
Reverend Michael) Engelsman, Lois (Giorgio) Losacco; two
grandchildren, Patti Engelsman and Tim (Ashley) Engelsman; two
great-grandchildren, Kaylynn and Maddie Engelsman; brothers Kenneth
(Sheila) (late Norma), Ross (late Joan), and Gordon (Jeanie); sisters
Bertha (Frank) and Grace (late Don); and many nieces and
nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his
grandson Brian, sister Marion, and brother Douglas.
Bob will be remembered as a man of great integrity and
faith.
A private cremation was held at the
Salisbury Funeral Home and Crematorium on Saturday, August 4. An
extended family graveside service and burial was held Tuesday, August
7 at Fair Haven Cemetery. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held
on Saturday, August 11, 1:00 PM at Moncton Wesleyan Church with the
Reverends Laurel Buckingham, Joel Gorveatte, and David Way
officiating, with visitation and reception to follow.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the
nursing and support staff of Moncton City Hospital.
Donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Gideons and
the New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society.
