ALLEN, Robert William « Bob »
After a courageous battle with cancer, Robert passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on Saturday November 24, 2018. Bob, in his 72nd year, loving husband of Diane (nee Davidson) for 46 years. Proud father of Ryan (Claire) and Reed (MacKenzie). Devoted grandfather of Isla and Maisie. Survived by brother Carl, and sisters Sandra (Rita), Holly Ann (Bob), and Wendy. Predeceased by Robert’s parents William and Viola Allen.
Robert worked as a Millwright for over 30 years, making many friends and connections over that time. Robert was an enthusiastic athlete, who was a member of the Burlington Old-Timers Hockey Club, and Burlington Old-Timers Soccer Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, travelling, gardening, and catching up with friends when walking his beloved boxers.
Special thanks to Dr. Zbuk , Dr. Shaw and Dr. Mehta of Juravinski Cancer Centre and to Dr. Selbie and all of the incredible nurses on 3-West Palliative Care at St. Peter’s for their compassionate care given to Robert during his illness.
Cremation will be taking place. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME ‘BURLINGTON CHAPEL » 2241 New St. (at Drury lane) on Wednesday November 28, 2018 from 5-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or St. Peter’s Hospital-Palliative Care Unit.
