Obituary for Rita Willan (Giroux) (Richer)
In loving memory of Rita Willan, (Giroux) (nee Richer)
Who passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at the Elizabeth Centre at the age of 92. She was the daughter of late Emile Richer and Florida Lafontaine (Pre-deceased).
She was also the beloved wife of Louis Giroux (pre-deceased) and the late Syd Willan and also Companion to Norm Brown (pre-deceased).
Rita was a loving mother to her only son Richard (wife Gloria) of Hanmer. She was a cherished grandmother to Jason (wife Linda) Val Caron, Brian (wife Elke) from Woodstock and Great Grandmother of Alexa, Nadia, Nathan and Adam. She is also leaving behind great friends Sharon and Greg Wilson.
She is joining her brothers and sisters in heaven, Dora Folts (husband Wesley), Alcide Richer (wife Cecile), Irene Serre- Paradis (Romeo Serre/Eddie Paradis), Edna Spooner (husband John), Germaine Simard (husband Maurice), Gerard Richer and Baby Marcel all pre-deceased.
She is leaving behind several nieces and nephews who loved her and joined her and Syd at their camp in Killarney. She and Syd loved to travel to Texas every winter. As she said, she had a wonderful life and traveled to many places.
She worked for 25 years for the Federal Government, Canada Employment Centre, helping people find jobs retiring in 1981. She shall be missed by many.
At Rita’s request, there will be no visitation of service. She will be cremated and buried in the future which only the immediate family will be attending. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
