Richard Hilkewich
It is with profound sadness that the family of Richard Hilkewich announces his passing on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the age of 91 years.
He was predeceased by his daughter Vivian (John) Usher, his parents Harry and Alberta Hilkewich, his sisters and brothers-in-law Albina (William) Shwydiuk, Olga (Mike) Titus, Emily (Joe) Petras, brothers and sisters-in-law Tom Hilkewich, Nick (Doris) Hilkewich, Mike (Alga) Hilkewich, Orest (Irene) Hilkewich, and Marjorie Hilkewich.
Richard leaves behind his loving wife Worcine, and sons Andy, Terry (Lynne Kammermayer), Frank (Barb), Gordie (Alison). Surviving are his brothers Walter Hilkewich, Ted (Olga) Hilkewich, and sister-in-law Sally Hilkewich; grandchildren: Pam (Dwayne), Roxanne (Dave), Allison (Chris), Mandy (Scott), Jennifer (VJ), Courtney, Tanner, Emma, Jesse; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was born on November 8, 1926 on the family homestead in Alvena, SK. He went to Svoboda School and obtained his grade eight. Deciding that farming was not for him he moved to Prince Albert and then Saskatoon looking for work. He worked for Burns Meat Packing Plant, King George Hotel, Wills Construction and Saskatoon Electro Plating, Redi-Mix and Stern & Rogers as a heavy equipment operator for 12 years. Following this he worked for the University of Saskatchewan as a Caretaker III.
Richard met Worcine Lucyshyn in 1950 and they were married in July 1953. They raised their five children in Saskatoon. Retiring in 1991 at the age of 65, he enjoyed horseracing, bingo, the casino, playing Kaiser and dancing. He belonged to a seniors bowling league. Richard loved being around his family.

Prayers will be held at Park Funeral Home (311 Third Avenue North) on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George (210 Avenue M South) on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with celebrant Rt. Rev. Fr. Janko Kolosnjaji. Interment in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery will follow.
