Richard Cecil Derek “Dick” Ortner passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 at the age of 89 years. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie; his children Jeffrey (Laura) of Maple Ridge, BC, Christopher (Barbara) of Kamloops, BC, Marcia (Norbert) of Port Moody BC, Julia of Merritt BC, and Steven (Sonia) of Maple Ridge BC; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and sister Sylvia Stevens of Burnaby, BC. He was sadly predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
Dick’s love of life and people, touched the lives of all who knew him. He was well loved for his humour, generous spirit, compassionate and thoughtful ways and his never ending ability to fix things. He was a firefighter in the City of Coquitlam and will be missed by his brothers in the department. A Memorial tea for Dick will be held March 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC.
