Rhona Doreen (Somers) Kenny widow of the late John Kenny of Indian Garden Road, Red Bank, NB passed away peacefully at her residence, Mt.Saint Joseph Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in Matthews Settlement, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Effie (Matthews) Somers. Rhona was a homemaker who attended St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB. Rhona is survived by: six sons: Willie of Miramichi, NB; Garnet (Colleen) of Miramichi, NB; Lance (Mary Jane) of New Glasgow, NS; Harold of Fort McMurray, AB; Brett (Jeanne) of Fredericton, NB; Adam (Jennifer) of Warwick Settlement, NB; five daughters: Bonnie Dupuis (Harry) of Miramichi, NB; Faye Sherrard of Boom Road, NB; Marg Mullin (Gene) of Red Bank, NB; Vanda Ryan (Wilfred) of Miramichi, NB; Lois Engelman (Albert) of Michigan, USA; 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren. Mom was pleasantly expecting two great great granddaughters in June and a great great grandson in July. She is also survived by: sisters: Gladys Savage of Lower Newcastle, NB; Evelyn Moss of Sydney, NS; sister in law: Nita Somers of Matthews Settlement, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, John, she is predeceased by: infant son Carmen Joseph and infant daughter Mary Ann and a son in law: Neil Sherrard; brothers: Wilson, Harry, Herbie, Beaton, Cleve, Lance and Billy; sisters: Beula, Marie and Edrie. The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home, Sunny Corner, NB on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 7th at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations and remembrances, donations may be made to the St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery Fund, would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the Mt. Saint Joseph Nursing Home for the loving care she received as a resident for the last 3 years.
