STUART, Rev. Ian George Charles
(Jan 16, 1936 – Oct 29, 2018)
Ian died peacefully in his home on Oct 29th after an ongoing battle with cancer. Ian is survived by his loving wife Carole of 50 years, children Kathy (Jack) Mundy of Oakville, David (Elspeth) Stuart of Chesley, Brian Stuart of England, James (Nicole) Stuart of Oakville, grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Heather, Caitlyn, Laura, Ian, Andrew, Veyndan, Ethan and Victoria and 6 gt.grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Australia. He was predeceased by sisters Reta Symonds and Steph Dempsey.
Born in Scotland, Ian emigrated in 1953 and was ordained in the Anglican Church in 1965.
From 1970 to 1990 he taught at Appleby College, Oakville, where he served as chaplin. In 1990 he retired from teaching and moved to Collingwood. He served as interim priest at All Saint’s Anglican Church and was “on loan” to the joint charge of Nottawa / Rob Roy United churches and was Treasurer and Padre to the Royal Canadian Legion, Collingwood.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Collingwood on Friday, Nov 9th with the service to start at 4 pm.
Donations can be made to Home Horizon – the Barb Weider House for Homeless Youth, Collingwood.
