Death Notice
It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of René Girard on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Bluewater Health at the age of 75. Beloved husband and best friend of Patricia Mary Girard. Loving father of Brian (Lisa) Girard, Mike Girard (Sandy Ruddy), Shawn Girard (Lindsay Halsall), Todd Girard (Patricia Ronchin), and Shannon (Jordan) Dennis. Cherished grandfather of 15, great-grandfather of 9, and remembered by many nieces. Dear brother of Ron (Carol) Girard. Survived by mother-in-law Louise Henderson and brothers-in-law John Henderson (Trevor) and Morris LaCroix. Predeceased by his parents Christopher and Marie Ange Girard, and by his sister Evelyn LaCroix. René had a passion for old movies and model cars. He was a handyman and loved woodworking and tinkering with electronics. In René’s spare time he enjoyed going to garage sales. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of René’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).

A celebration of René’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.
