Regena May « Deenie » Lacourse
Age 96, passed away peacefully in St Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax on Friday, April 27, 2018, lovingly surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law, granddaughter and great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Jean-Marie “John” Lacourse who she married June, 1942. They had 44 wonderful years of marriage. Deenie was born on October 4, 1921, in Sydney Mines to the late John and Amanda (Fraser) Quinn. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a kind, generous and caring person and with her husband, John, fostered children and opened their home to family members and friends when they needed a helping hand. Deenie was resourceful and creative, sewing and knitting clothes for herself and her own young children and grandchildren. Her hands were never idle. She enjoyed quilting, needle work and playing bridge. Deenie visited Australia, Ireland and various places throughout Canada and the US, including a trans-Canadian rail adventure. She was a very happy, thankful person who loved life. Her faith in Christ, found late in life, was very important to her. She spent time daily reading from her Bible and often spoke with others about what she was reading and learning. She also enjoyed listening to the preaching of Dr. Charles Stanley on the radio. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Marsh, Kitchener, Ont; son, Jean-Pierre Lacourse (Margaret),Stewiacke; daughter, Suzanne Camilleri (Paul), Seaforth; sister, Pauline MacLean, Sydney Mines; grandchildren Jenny Hendsbee (Greg); Jean-Marc Lacourse (Lindsay); Sarah Younker (Carson); Aimee MacAdams (Brian); Michael Camilleri (Roni); step- grandchildren John MacDonald, Trevor MacDonald and Jocelyn Durham; great grandchildren Lucas, Emma, Jane, Clare, Isaac, Julia, Nathan, Sherry, Zeke, Skylla, Juno, Cameron, Natalie, Brin, Connor, Quinn, Sadie, Jean-Luc and Eli. She is predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. As Deenie wished, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and reception will be held 1pm Friday, May 4, 2018 in Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
