Obituary of Raymond Smith
Mr. Raymond Tedford Smith was born in Sus on December 21. 1946; he was the son of the late Eules and Evelyn (Keirstead) Smith.
Raymond is fondly remembered as one of the greatest men you would ever meet. He was loving and kind hearted and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a generous and hard working man and would help out anyone he could.
He was first and foremost a family man. He loved spending time with his girls and as childnre he took them everywhere. His grandchildren and nieces and nephews were very important to him and they could do no wrong in his eyes. He was a proud uncle and Grampy. He was a smart witted man with a heart of gold, but boy oh boy could he tease and torment. Raymond loved to laugh and playfully pick on people, and he especially loved to tell stories and jokes. Even if they weren’t funny he would laugh and that laugh was contagious. He was a friend to everyone.
Raymond loved hunting and fishing. Fishing wasnt fishing unless you were tramping through a stream and in some cases falling into the water. The girls learned to hold a light and a gun at a young age. He was professional jacker and ranger racer and probably kept the rangers in business over the years. He had a passion and eye for carpentry and referred to himself as an RC – (Rough Carpenter).
He loved to play cards, but wasn’t always the easiest to get along with when you beat him at 45’s. He was a lover of motorcycles and transport trucks and a collector of oil lamps, beer steins and tools. He also had a passion for old westerns and « wrastling. »
He will live on in the hearts of his loving companion, Grace Dean; his children: Wendy Beach and her husband Russell of Sus, Laura Scott of Elgin, Rachel Smith and her fiancée Shanna Craft of Salisbury, Jennifer Ferguson, Diana Ferguson and John Ferguson; his brother, Ashley Smith and his wife Grace of Plaster Rock; his sisters: Hazel Brown of Sus and Mabel Forgrave and her husband Allen of Lower Millstream; his grandchildren: Colleen Freeze and her husband Mike, Amy Johnson and her husband Jeff, John Beach and his wife Erica, Josh Smith and his girlfriend Marissa Belding and grandchild to be: Alexander Jesse Raymond Smith; his great grandchildren: Savannah, Salena, Tyrone, Halaina, Micah, Rayanna, Alyia, Mellony, Jakob, Jesse and Jaydon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
