September 21, 1938 – September 28, 2018
After a courageous battle with cancer, Raymond Chipchar passed away peacefully on September 28, 2018.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Sophie; sister Francis; and brothers Orest and Eugene. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Janet; son David (Joanne), and daughter Susan (Marc); grandchildren Sarah , Adam, Ty and Brody, brother Walter, sisters Sophie and Justin, and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Ray had a passion for all sports, in particular football, skiing, golf and hockey. In his early years, Ray worked for the Alberta Government before transitioning to the private sector as a successful mortgage broker and realtor. In his retirement he fully enjoyed being a golf marshal at Lewis Estates Golf Course.
Ray loved being outdoors and always enjoyed a good BBQ on the deck. Some of his best memories were times at Lake Kalamalka and Lake Wabamun with his friends and family. Ray and Janet enjoyed many winters down south.
In his later years, his greatest joy was his four grandchildren and the time he spent with them.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, with reception to follow.
The family is sincerely grateful to all the staff of Foyer Lacombe for treating our dad with dignity and kindness during his final days.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute or a charity of one’s choice.
