Sampson, Ralph Richard
Age 91, of Rockdale, Richmond County passed away Monday, April 30 ,2018 at Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Born in Lower L’Ardoise he was the son of the late Albert P. and Dorothy ( Crowley ) Sampson.
In his early youth Ralph found himself touring many adventurous sites around the globe sailing with the Canadian Merchant Marine . He then went on to become a waiter aboard trains, working for Canadian National. Later he sought employment with Kraft General Foods in Montreal , a career that would span 38 years .
Cape Breton was near to his heart and the strong desire to retire « down home » became reality for both Ralph and Blanche as they settled in Rockdale in 1989. This is where Ralph was happiest , honing his skills at Gardening but the best of nature’s call was Ice Fishing anywhere along the Bras d’or Lakes or any brook or stream that he could cast his line and wait passionately for the next catch .
Ralph is survived by his best friend and soulmate of nearly 65 years , Blanche ( Martell) Sampson, Rockdale . His daughter, Joanne ( Husband Vince ) Bona, Kirkland, Quebec; Sons Derrick and Glen, Rockdale. Added joy to the family chain are 3 Grandchildren, Lianne, Kelly and Julie; 6 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Audrey, Windsor, Ontario and Marion, Detroit, Michigan. He was predeceased by brothers Joe and Harold, sisters Irene and Marjorie .
Cremation has taken place . Visitation for the late Ralph Sampson will be Wednesday, May 16th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M., Holy Guardian Angels Visitation Chapel, L’Ardoise . Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, May17th at 2:00 P.M. , Holy Guardian Angels Church, Father Antolin Asor officiating .Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Ralph Sampson can be made to the Richmond Villa Activity Department .Funeral under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury .
