Ralph Nelson Heckbert
1930-2018
Heckbert – Peacefully, with
family by his side, the passing of Ralph Nelson Heckbert, age 88,
occurred at the Prince County Hospital on Saturday, September 29,
2018. Born in Summerside, PE, he was the son of the late Earl
and Violet (Sellick) Heckbert.
He served as the publisher of the Journal Pioneer for 14
years before retiring.
Survived by his wife and best friend Helen (MacEwen)
Heckbert; children David (DeAnna) Heckbert and Marilyn (Tim) Poirier;
grandchildren Gina (Jason) Awalt, Gregory (Lauren), Julia, Brett and
Taylor; great-grandchildren Jaden, Ella, and Forrest; and by his
sister Doris Dommermuth. Predeceased by his brothers Edwin and John
Heckbert; and by his brother-in-law Edwin Dommermuth.
Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral
service will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow the
funeral service at the Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours on
Monday from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Prince
County Hospital Foundation would be
appreciated.
