Obituary for
Ralph Arden Hatfield
Hatfield, Roger Arden, 88, of Deerfield crossed to heaven on May 18,2018, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his loving wife Joyce by his side. Born in Deerfield , he was the son of the late Nathaniel and Dorothy (Moses) Hatfield. Although they prayed for many months for his total healing from disease and sickness, Jesus wanted Roger to be received into heaven to be with Him where he is finally healed. Roger was a quiet faithful man, loved his land, his wife, his family and his friends. He was quick to help anyone he could with the tools he had and was generous with all. He had a shepherd’s heart to care for his property, his animals, and his people. He was a hard worker, working in the woods before there were power saws, surviving the depression, a parachute accident in the military (Korean War) and driving truck in Ontario. He was a survivor and innovator. His heart was always on his home in Deerfield even when he lived away. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 20 years, Joyce Babcock; 5 step-children: Rachael, Nashville, TN ; James (Anita), Tusket ; John (Marybeth), Cleveland, NC ; Esther (Rick Huth), Anchorage ,Alaska ;Judson (Elisha), Colorado Springs, CO ; one sister Janice Madsen, Ontario; many nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers George, Paul and sister Gretchen. Visitation will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 , from 7-9 pm with a Legion service at 7:30 pm. Funeral will be Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 2 pm from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Larry Pennell officiating. Burial to follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Peniel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.
