Obituary Overview
Radomir (Rako) Milicevic
Born on September 10, 1938 in the village of Bumbarevo Brdo, Serbia.
Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Radomir “Rako” Milicevic, who passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He had a great love for and pride in his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Rako is survived by his beloved wife Gordana and their children Dobrija (Chris) Bailey and Aleksandar (Sarah), and grandson John Tristan.
Predeceased by his parents Dobrija Milicevic (née Vasovic) and Milutin Milicevic. Older brother of Nada Todorovic and Milic, and cherished uncle.
Rako was a good man with a big heart and a generous spirit. He was a proud Serbo-Canadian with a great passion for laughing, teasing and storytelling. He had a remarkable love for the people he met in life and the friends he spent years working with as an Industrial Millwright at PPG Industries Inc. in Hawkesbury, Ontario. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he loved dancing Serbian Kolo, and celebrating life with a little ‘medicine’ from the old country. He was a lifetime member of the Serbian Orthodox Church and would stop at nothing to help someone. Rako emigrated to Canada in 1967 and was as proud to be Canadian as he was of the village in which he was born and raised. He was an honest, hardworking, dedicated man whose strength of character and joyful spirit will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all of his family, Kumovi and friends.
A special thank you to the incredible ICU nurses and medical staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their wonderful, compassionate care and support.
